FAR VOLUNTEERS
Without our wonderful volunteers and their dedication, FAR would not be the non-profit organization it is today. If you have a passion for protecting and caring for your local Placer and Sutter County watersheds and their surrounding habitats and inhabitants, we would welcome and greatly appreciate your time and effort in bettering our community
How to Volunteer

Salmon Surveys
More information about this program can also be found here on our Programs page.
The Salmon Surveys occur during the fall and winter annually, with volunteers walking and wading in assigned sections of the Auburn Ravine to collect information on the number of salmon and their nests (called redds), their GPS coordinates, the collection of DNA samples from deceased salmon, and salmon hatchery tag collection.
These surveys are permitted by the CDFW (California Department of Fish and Wildlife).
Minors ages 13-17 are allowed to volunteer for the surveys, provided they are tall enough wade safely and are accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian. All volunteers, parents, or legal guardians need to sign a waiver form.

The Great Auburn Ravine Clean-Up
You can also visit our Programs page here to view the annual flyer.
The Great Auburn Ravine Clean-Up is held annually around the end of September in a one-day event to clean up assigned sections of the Auburn Ravine and surrounding areas. Pictured to the left is just a small portion of what was collected in 2023's Great Auburn Ravine Clean-Up, which was just a little over 2 tons of litter and debris! An article published by Gold Country Media on this event can be found here.
Minors are allowed and welcomed to participate, but they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
More details will be provided on the annual flyer, which will be posted to this website around two months before the Great Auburn Ravine Clean-Up happens.
